What’s on your vision board? Or better yet—what’s hanging on the wall behind your computer screen? Here are 10 easy steps on how to make a Vision Board for your office/cubicle. All you need to start is a few Post-It notes, a wall calendar, and your favorite colored Sharpie. Let’s get to work!
1. Parking Lot Goals
List of long-term goals that you are working towards
- A new program you want to start
- An educational program you want to coordinate
- Finding a mentor in a certain line of work
- Goals for a social media platform
2. What’s Important
List of your company’s strategic goals that are most relevant to you
- Integrated services
- Transparent administration
- Infrastructure goals
- Advocacy or education initiatives
- Clear communication
3. Accomplishments
Running list of everything you’ve accomplished this year (starts on your employee review date)
- Quarterly reports delivered as promised
- Inventories or space reports
- SOPs and Policies that you authored
- Certifications
- Appointments to boards
- Volunteer activities
4. Calendar
A monthly calendar is a must for any office wall
- List only the most important monthly meetings
- Don’t try to keep up with your Outlook calendar
- Put both big personal events and work events on the calendar
5. Teams
List of all the teams you work with most
- Administrative
- Space & Equipment
- Clinical
- Research Integrity
- Pre-Award
- Post-Award
- Patient Care
- Legal
- Accounting
- Education
- Compliance
- Quality
- Biosafety
6. Systems
List of all the systems and programs you store data in or use each day
- Grants Management

7. The Little Things
List of affirmations or important personal reminders
- Reread the instructions.

All of your monthly goals for the entire year
- Each month should have 4-5 goals
- If needed, break down bigger goals into several months
- Allow enough time to accomplish each goal
