You’re working furiously at work and suddenly your software crashes and you receive an cryptic error message. You pick up the phone and call the trusty IT guy who tells you to take a screenshot and email it to him so he can see the error message.
This is just one situation where you may need to take a screenshot (screen capture or screen grab) of your desktop. Here is a quick and easy way to do this with just a few clicks:
- There is a button on your keyboard called “Print Screen”, which might be labeled “PrtScn”. This button may be on the top row next to your “F” buttons, or above your arrow keys.
- To take a screenshot of the entire desktop, simply press the“PrtScn” button and a screenshot will be placed in your clipboard.
- Then, simply open the program you want to use, such as Outlook email or Microsoft word, and either go to the Edit menu then select Paste or, hit Ctrl+V to paste the image.
