Your productivity at work is only as good as the tools that you use. I can almost guarantee that every single Administrative Assistant (AA) in the U.S. uses Microsoft Outlook on a daily, if not hourly, basis. If this describes you, then consider how your Outlook currently looks to you. Do you have a reading pane on the left-hand side? Do you view Monday-Friday as your work week? How does our Outlook look? And could changing your views change your productivity?
Consider these two changes:
- Reading Pane
- With the Reading Pane open, choose Current View from the View menu.
- Then, choose Customize Current View.
- Choose from the setting options to customize your Mail view for optimal productivity.
- Work Week and Work Times
- The default work week displays only five days — Monday through Friday from 8:00 – 5:00 pm. If you work a nontraditional week, or nontraditional times, you can change this default to display the days you need.
- Choose Options from the Tools menu, click Calendar Options in the Calendar section..
- In the Work Time section, check the days you want to include in your work week. You can include only a few or all seven.
- From the First Day Of Week drop-down, choose the day that represents the first day of your work week.
- Click OK.
- Your calendar will accommodate your work week schedule.
